I noted a couple days ago that the Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan is hosting a Hollywood Nights 24-Hour Movie Marathon in Grand Rapids. I was curious what other 24-hour movie marathon events were out there in theaters. Good ‘ol Google has the random collection of answers:
- The Grand Cinema in Tacoma, Washington had an 24-hour independent movie marathon in April 2013. I like what they did – they had three theaters all running simultaneously as part of the event and published a schedule ahead of time. The event was part of a fundraising campaign to convert the theater to digital projection.
- The Boston Science Fiction Film Festival – coming up in February 2014. They are still taking submissions, but are a little light on the details.
- AMC Theaters ran Academy Award winning films and allowed you to buy a day pass. Neat idea, a little less of an “event” though.
- The 30th annual 24 hour sci-fi movie marathon in Columbus, Ohio. Whew. 30th annual. Dang. There are some organized nerds.
- Fatso 24-Hour Movie Marathon in New Zeeland – This one has an interesting twist: they don’t announce the movies ahead of time. So you have no idea of what you are in for!
